A former Penn State defensive standout has found a new home…in Canada.
The Toronto Argonauts recently announced they will be signing defensive end Amin Vanover. The Newark native will be headed to the CFL after not having any luck in the NFL draft in 2025. He originally worked out with the Miami Dolphins during their rookie camp, but has not gotten any game action since leaving the Nittany Lions. Still, he could end up being a useful asset for the Argonauts up north.
His collegiate career, while overshadowed potentially by several other elite Penn State stars, was solid. While more of a rotational option, he still logged 11.5 tackles for loss and six sacks throughout his collegiate career. However, his high school career could be what many point to when they talk of Vanover’s potential.
At St Joseph’s Regional High School in Montvale, NJ, Vanover was a shining star. He had 8.5 sacks his senior season and eight as a junior. He was selected to the all-state team twice, as well as the all-conference team. He came out of high school as the No. 9 recruit in the state of New Jersey according to 247Sports.
Now, Vanover will take his talents over the border.
