The Toronto Argonauts have signed American receiver Dimitri Stanley and American defensive lineman Amin Vanover.
Stanley finished his collegiate career at Iowa State University where he made 48 receptions for 559 yards and one touchdown over 23 games. The former four-star recruit transferred from the University of Colorado ahead of the 2022 season, having collected 70 receptions for 820 yards and four touchdowns in 30 games with the Buffaloes.
The six-foot, 200-pound target went unselected in the 2024 NFL Draft but signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent. He recorded three catches for 12 yards in the preseason before being released at the end of training camp.
Stanley’s father, Walter, spent NFL stints with the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions, Washington Commanders, Miami Dolphins, San Diego Chargers, and New England Patriots as a receiver and kicker returner. He concluded his professional career with two seasons in the CFL with the Ottawa Rough Riders.
The native of Aurora, Co. had a stint with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2025 but didn’t dress for any regular-season games with the team.
Vanover spent five seasons at Penn State University where he made 50 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, and two forced fumbles over 45 games. The six-foot-four, 259-pound native of Newark, N.J. attended rookie minicamp with the Miami Dolphins in 2025.
The Toronto Argonauts added several key free agents this winter, including offensive lineman Dakoda Shepley, defensive lineman DeWayne Hendrix, strong-side linebacker Adarius Pickett, and defensive back DaShaun Amos. The team’s key losses included receiver Dejon Brissett (Calgary Stampeders) and linebacker Wynton McManis (Hamilton Tiger-Cats).
The Argonauts hold the second overall pick in the 2026 CFL Draft, which is scheduled for Tuesday, April 28 at 7:00 p.m. EDT. All CFL training camps are scheduled to open on May 10. Toronto will play its first preseason game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Saturday, May 23, then its first regular-season game against the Montreal Alouettes on Friday, June 12.
In 2025, Toronto finished third in the East Division standings with a 5-13 record, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2019. Mike Miller was promoted to the role of head coach following the departure of Ryan Dinwiddie.
