Katy Perry is moving on from her ex, Orlando Bloom. And considering how tumultuous the on/off relationship between the pair has been, that feels like a good thing. Now Bloom is out there, doing things like attending the Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez wedding solo, while Perry is continuing with her tour… and also finding time for a new romance.
That’s right, Perry was seen having dinner with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Later, Trudeau also attended the singer’s sold-out Lifetimes Tour concert at Montreal’s Bell Centre. Pretty big signs that something is indeed going on between the two… or that something could.

But her friends are reportedly concerned, an insider told The U.S. Sun. “Katy’s friends want her to have fun after her split from Orlando, but she’s still very much grieving the end of their relationship and the fact that she never made it down the aisle,” they said.
And, as for the new relationship, “They don’t want her to rush into something serious, and have heard Justin has a bit of a reputation as a womanizer, and that he loves the fame game. It is still a very new flirty friendship, but friends are hoping she takes it slow with the next person and chooses a man who loves her for her.”
The relationship between Perry and Trudeau is real, another source told the outlet. “They have been wanting to have dinner for a while now, and he asked her if they could do it in Montreal, and she agreed to do so very quickly.” Not just that, reports indicate, “He isn’t shy about his romantic life, and he took her on a date, and he was very, very excited to do so, and kept talking about it in the last few days.”
However, Trudeau comes with rumored baggage. There was speculation about possible cheating on the part of Trudeau for years before he and his wife, Sophie Grégoire, finally parted ways in August of 2023. The couple shares 3 kids, Xavier, 17, Ella-Grace, 16, and Hadrien, 11. Both denied the cheating allegations, but the rumors continued to plague them.
At the time of their separation, their joint statement read, “Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate. As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built and will continue to build. For the well-being of our children, we ask that you respect our and their privacy. Thank you.”
Perry’s separation from Bloom has also been very cordial, at least on the outside. However, the new romance seems to be bothering Bloom. Sources told Star that the news “hit Orlando like a ton of bricks.” Not just that, the source said it might have led to some soul-searching. “Katy seems smitten, and Orlando’s feeling the burn,” the source explained. “He realizes he could have been nicer with Katy. Now he’s seeing she’s doing just fine without him.”
Perry has already been part of a complicated family dynamic with Bloom. She shares one daughter with Bloom, 4-year-old Daisy Dove. Meanwhile, the actor shares a son with ex-wife Miranda Kerr, 14-year-old Flynn, and Perry has played a big part in his life as well during her time with Bloom.
That, of course, doesn’t mean things are going there with Trudeau, at least anytime soon. But it does mean that, if there are any concerns for Perry, it might not be the family aspect. We will have to wait and see if the cheating rumors are a dealbreaker or not.
