TBR Football have been exclusively informed that Arsenal and Tottenham are waiting for a signal from Rodrygo before making a move for the Real Madrid forward.

The Brazil international seems surplus to requirements under Xabi Alonso, who only handed the South American 92 minutes of action at the FIFA Club World Cup earlier this summer.

Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent at TBR Football – can now share details on why Arsenal and Tottenham are yet to make an official bid for Rodrygo.

Exclusive: Arsenal and Tottenham wary of being “used” in battle to sign Rodrygo

We understand Arsenal and Tottenham are waiting for the Brazilian to signal a desire to leave the Santiago Bernabeu for England before making offers.

Arsenal are able to afford a deal for Rodrygo – who Real Madrid want £70m for – despite already spending over £190m on new recruits.

Tottenham can also finance a deal after Heung-min Son moved to LAFC.

Bailey said: “Rodrygo is still very much on the radar – it’s natural when a player of that calibre comes up.

“Arsenal and Tottenham just want to make sure it’s what Rodrygo wants, and that they’re not going to be used to make bids and then the player says no. They’re smarter than that. I think the next week or so will be hugely telling for Rodrygo.”

Should Arsenal or Tottenham make official bids for the 24-year-old, only to be rejected, it would tell other clubs just how much of the budget has been set aside for a new winger, possibly making negotiations for an alternative tougher.

Liverpool also monitoring Rodrygo

After selling Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich in a £65m deal, Liverpool also have a vacancy for a new attacker on the left flank.

TBR Football understand Liverpool are interested in Rodrygo and he remains an option to replace the Colombian, although Arne Slot has also been left impressed by the 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha this summer.

Richard Hughes – Director of Football at Anfield – is understood to be a huge fan of the Real Madrid attacker.

Evidently, Rodrygo – who Jude Bellingham rates above Kylian Mbappe – is not short of admirers.
