Young First Nation boxer finds his passion thanks to Thunder Bay’s Underground Gym

The Underground Gym and Youth Centre in Thunder Bay, Ont., offers a safe space for youth to work out, learn new skills and grab a hot meal, all for free. Last month, the gym celebrated 17-year-old phenom Keenan Flett who won the historic Buckskin Gloves Boxing Tournament in B.C., which brings together Indigenous amateur boxers from across Canada to honour residential school survivors. The CBC’s Matt Fratpietro stopped by the gym earlier this week to learn more about its impact in the community.
