The Winnipeg Jets have completed a trade with the Buffalo Sabres, acquiring defenceman Jacob Bryson, forward Isak Rosén, and two draft picks.
The Jets announced Thursday night that Bryson and Rosén are joining the club along with Buffalo’s second-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft and a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.
In exchange, Winnipeg is sending defencemen Luke Schenn and Logan Stanley to Buffalo. The Jets are also retaining 50 per cent of Schenn’s contract as part of the trade.
The conditional fourth-round pick will be the better of the Sabres’ own fourth-round selection or the Edmonton Oilers’ fourth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.
Bryson, 28, has appeared in 35 games for the Sabres this season, recording five points, including two goals and three assists, along with eight penalty minutes.
The London, Ontario native has played 289 career NHL games with Buffalo over the past six seasons, collecting 48 points, including six goals and 42 assists, and 58 penalty minutes.
Bryson was originally selected by the Sabres in the fourth round, 99th overall, in the 2017 NHL Draft.
Rosén adds young scoring depth
Rosén, 22, has seven points in 16 games with Buffalo this season, including three goals and four assists.
The Solna, Sweden native has also had a strong season in the American Hockey League with the Rochester Americans. He leads the team with 25 goals and ranks second in scoring in the AHL with 43 points during the 2025-26 season.
Rosén was named the AHL Player of the Month for November 2025 after recording 12 points, including five goals and seven assists, in eight games.
The Sabres selected Rosén in the first round, 14th overall, in the 2021 NHL Draft. In 31 career NHL games, he has recorded eight points, including three goals and five assists.
Jets move veteran Schenn and longtime defenceman Stanley
Schenn, 36, has seven points this season with Winnipeg, including one goal and six assists, while adding 32 penalty minutes.
The Saskatoon native has played 1,118 NHL games over his career with nine teams, registering 212 points and 884 penalty minutes. Schenn has also won two Stanley Cups with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Stanley, 27, was selected by the Jets in the first round, 18th overall, in the 2016 NHL Draft.
The Waterloo, Ontario native set new career highs this season with 21 points, nine goals, and 99 penalty minutes. Over 261 career games with Winnipeg, Stanley recorded 57 points, including 14 goals and 43 assists.
