As revealed by Brunch Boxing earlier this week, Takuma Inoue will lead the undercard for brother Naoya’s May 2nd superfight against Junto Nakatani, battling four-division titlist Kazuto Ioka in the first defense of his second title reign.
Inoue (21-2, 5 KO) briefly held the interim WBC bantamweight title in 2018 before falling to Nordine Oubaali in a title consolidation. Five years later, he beat Liborio Solis for the vacant WBA belt, defending it three times but suffering an upset loss to Seiya Tsutsumi two Octobers ago. Undaunted, he toppled undefeated superstar Tenshin Nasukawa for the full WBC belt in November.
Credit for successfully calling his shot.
Other action sees former welterweight title challenger Jin Sasaki (20-2-1, 18 KO) take on fellow slugger Sora Tanaka (5-0, 5 KO), Toshioki Shimomachi (22-1-3, 12 KO) face Reiya Abe (28-4-2, 10 KO), and former champion Yoshiki Takei (11-1, 9 KO) start down the comeback trail in an eight-rounder against China’s DeKang Wang (9-1, 3 KO).
Fun card. Hope they tell us gaijin how to watch it soon.
