A quick injury report from Seattle Mariners spring training, with two updates and one new entry.

Seattle Mariners’ Cole Young flexes power with two-homer day

• Relief pitcher Matt Brash, who was taken out of his routine by dental surgery early in spring training, threw his second live batting practice of the spring and his first where hitters were allowed to swing.

Brendan Donovan and Ryan Bliss each took two turns against Brash, whose fastball sat at 96 mph and sweeper looked especially good. All went well for Brash, who is close to entering Cactus League games. The hope is he can get five to six outings before the start of the regular season, which should be more than enough to have him ready.

• Starting pitcher Bryce Miller took another step forward in his return from inflammation in his oblique, throwing from out to 120 feet with a coach and trainer looking on, then throwing a number of pitches from flat ground as he brought it back in. He then moved to the plyo mound, where he took some dry throws (without a ball) and then threw a few plyo balls at mid-effort into the wall.

This marks the first time Miller has thrown anything off a mound since experiencing the oblique issue, and he said all went well. There is still no targeted return date, but everything appears to be moving forward.

• Finally, the new entry to the injury report is right fielder Victor Robles, who has been missing from games this week. Robles experienced soreness in his shoulder after diving for a ball in a game late last week. The Mariners had him checked out, and the MRI was clean. He is expected to return as the designated hitter in Sunday’s game against the Brewers.
