Both teams currently sit at 2–6 in the East Division. They occupy the bottom two spots. Ottawa’s two wins this season have come against Calgary. One of Toronto’s victories came over Winnipeg and the other over the same Ottawa team they will face this week. Toronto is positioned just above Ottawa in our CFL power rankings but both squads remain inconsistent in execution this year. Ottawa comes off a bye and it will be interesting to see if that helps them in this game.
Quarterback Play
Dru Brown returned after a one-week injury absence for the Redblacks last week. He completed 19 of his 27 pass attempts and had 225 yards against the Calgary Stampeders. Toronto’s offense has leaned heavily on backup QB Nick Arbuckle. Last season’s Grey Cup MVP has been thrust back into the spotlight due to Chad Kelly’s absence due to injury. Arbuckle is second in the league in passing yards but also has the most interceptions in the league with nine.

This feels like a must-win game for both of these teams. The loser of this contest will fall to 2-7 and will have sole possession of last place in the East. As far as who will win this game, I have a hard time differentiating these two teams. I think that Toronto could pull out a tight game in the end if Arbuckle can avoid turning the ball over as often as he has. But no matter who wins this game, I think it will be close, and I’ll take the points with the Redblacks.
