A Toronto woman has been extradited from Jamaica and charged in connection with a fatal shooting in a North York plaza two years ago.
In a news release, Toronto police say officers responded to a call for a shooting in a plaza on the northwest corner of Jane Street and Lawrence Avenue West on Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, at around 7:28 a.m.
Investigators say a man who had been shot was located at the scene and was pronounced dead.
The victim was later identified as 42-year-old Anthony McBean of Toronto.
Police say two suspects were identified through the investigation and were believed to have fled to Jamaica following the killing.
On Friday, March 6, 2026, Debbie Jones, 43, of Toronto, was extradited from Kingston, Jamaica, and returned to Canada, where she was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
She is scheduled to appear at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on Saturday.
Officials have not released a photo of Jones.
However, the second suspect who police identified as 37-year-old Ricardo Manuel Bailey, remains wanted for second-degree murder and is also believed to have fled to Jamaica.
The case was Toronto’s 66th homicide of 2024.
