Canelo Alvarez has scored 39 wins by knockout during his legendary 67-fight boxing career.

The most brutal of them came when he squared off against a former light-welterweight champion in May 2016.

Amir Khan was known for having a suspect chin, so it came as a massive shock when he decided to jump up to 155lbs to fight the pound-for-pound best boxer on the planet.

The British boxing legend bamboozled Canelo Alvarez with his blistering speed during the first few rounds of their fight, but it always seemed to be just a matter of time before he was out cold on the canvas.

A huge overhand right from Canelo caught Khan, putting him to sleep in the sixth round of their fight.

The Mexican fight icon almost instantly went to check on his opponent, who he feared may have suffered a potentially fatal injury due to the nature of the knockout.

“With Amir Khan, he scared me a little,” Canelo said during a DAZN documentary in 2022.

“I felt a bit worried. I actually went over to see if he was okay. It was the natural reaction.

“The knockout was too strong. And on top of that, when he fell to the canvas, he twisted his neck badly.

“So, I thought something more than a knockout had happened.”

Amir Khan predicts Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford

Khan recently offered his unique perspective on Canelo’s upcoming fight with Terence Crawford.

Two of boxing’s biggest stars are set to clash in the fight of the year on September 13 in Las Vegas.

Khan is the only man who has fought both fighters. After recovering from his brutal KO loss to Canelo, he was stopped in six rounds by Terence Crawford, who was loudly booed after landing a horror low blow to win their April 2019 fight.

“I’m going to support my boy, Terence Crawford. He’s a good friend of mine. I think he can do it. He has a great boxing IQ, his IQ is perfect, and he can see everything,” Khan recently told The Ring.

“Crawford does hit hard. A lot of people don’t give Crawford the credit for the punch power he has.

“I’ve been in the ring with him, he’s hit me hard. Obviously, the most powerful fighter between the two is going to be Canelo, but I think Crawford still has enough power to hurt Canelo and push him back, and that he is there in front of him as a challenge.”
