The ground was shaking at Winnipeg Gateway Church this weekend as hundreds of young people gathered for a powerful time of worship.

More than 800 students in Grades 6 to 12 attended the Inspire Our Nation conference, filling the church with music, movement, and moments of spiritual connection over two days.

Throughout Friday and Saturday, the conference centred around the theme “Come Alive,” based on Acts 2:17. Organizers describe the theme as an invitation for young people “to live an empowered life for God’s purposes in the world.”

Along with worship services, students participated in games and a variety of workshops focused on faith and creative expression. Sessions included worship singing, dance, and a special talk from Winnipeg Blue Bombers player Nick Hallet.

Friday night’s worship session, led by the Breaking Bread worship band, had students on their feet, jumping, singing, and filling the room with praise.

Many students said the experience helped them connect with God and sense the work of the Holy Spirit throughout the gathering.

Worship expressed through creativity

One of the most energetic workshops featured hip-hop dance as worship, led by instructor Kemahee. Students learned choreography set to Christian worship music while reflecting on scripture.

“The moves are putting on the armour of God,” Kemahee explained.

Organizers say the goal of the workshops is to help students explore different ways to express their faith through creativity and community.

A joyful final moment

The conference concluded with a performance from the Inspire Youth Choir, who shared what they had learned during their workshop sessions.

As the choir sang, students rushed toward the front of the stage, jumping, singing, and celebrating together in a final moment of joyful worship.

After the final session, students were also given the opportunity to respond personally to the message of the Gospel and accept Jesus into their hearts.
