The next phase of this regular season in the West in the Pacific Division for the Los Angeles Kings (25-22-14) and new interim head coach DJ Smith begins this weekend on Saturday evening (March 7) vs. the Montreal Canadiens (33-18-9) from the East.

Smith and the Kings are looking to build some momentum coming off an impressive win on the scoreboard by a score of 5-3 this past Thursday night (March 5) vs. the New York Islanders on home ice in convincing fashion a couple of nights ago. The Kings are only a few points in the standings out of a spot in the postseason in the playoffs this regular season in the West, hosting the Canadiens on home ice on Saturday evening this weekend.

This evening is the debut game in a Kings’ uniform for the newly-acquired forwards Scott Laughton (from the Toronto Maple Leafs) and winger Mathieu Joseph (from the St. Louis Blues). Smith and the Kings got more proven experience and depth in the active roster lineup offensively this regular season in the West with Laughton and Joseph.
