A large section of Toronto is without electricity this evening (March 7), and the outage could last until tomorrow morning.
Toronto Hydro reports that 13,500 customers have had the lights go out in the city’s east end, and it is affecting both households and businesses.
Reports of the outage were first reported to Toronto Hydro around 8 p.m.
Emergency hydro crews are on the scene investigating the source of the problem, but early estimates are that power won’t be restored until 1 a.m.
The area affected includes the neighbourhoods Birchmount Park, Greenwood-Coxwell, The Beach, Upper Beach, Oakridge, Woodbine-Lumsden, Taylor-Massey, Clairlea-Birchmount, Scarborough Junction and Leslieville.
