Power out to hundreds

Two outages in the Cherryville area were caused by trees down across BC Hydro wires.
UPDATE 3:10 p.m.
Power has been restored in the Armstrong and Westside Road areas, but there are still a couple of outages affecting hundreds of people in the North Okanagan.
​Trees down across wires are to blame for an outage in the Cherryville area that has left 839 BC Hydro customers without electricity.
​In the Creighton Valley area, there’s a smaller outage affecting 37 customers.

Thousands of homes are without power in the North Okanagan Sunday.

Thousands of people in the North Okanagan are without power Sunday morning, as heavy winds continue to batter the region.
According to the BC Hydro outage map, 3,755 homes are without power across a large area from the northern end of Westside Road up to Armstrong. Power has been out in the region since 8:15 a.m.
BC Hydro estimates power will be restored by about 12:30 p.m.
Farther east, another 839 homes are without power along Highway 6 in the Cherryville area. Power has been out there since just before 9 a.m.
There are several smaller outages across the region as well, including in the Creighton Valley area, Okanagan Centre and Salmon Arm.
Strong winds are expected to persist across much of B.C.’s Southern Interior Sunday.
