It was supposed to be a championship celebration. Instead, the night ended with a mugshot. Arike Ogunbowale, the Dallas Wings star and four-time WNBA All-Star, was arrested early Thursday morning after an incident at a Miami nightclub.

According to reports, police were called to E11EVEN Miami following a disturbance inside the venue. When officers arrived near a rear exit, they found a crowd being escorted out by security.

A security guard told officers he was trying to remove Ogunbowale from the club following an earlier situation when the confrontation escalated.

According to the complaint, the guard claimed Ogunbowale punched him in the face with a closed fist, knocking him to the ground.

Police say the guard identified her at the scene, and Ogunbowale was taken into custody without incident on a battery charge. Authorities also say the altercation was captured on security cameras.

The timing made the situation even more surprising.

Ogunbowale and her teammates had reportedly been at the club celebrating a championship win earlier in the evening after her team defeated Phantom. The star guard scored 19 points in the victory.

Videos posted to social media earlier in the night showed Ogunbowale celebrating with fellow basketball stars before things took a turn.

Ogunbowale, who also won a national championship at Notre Dame Fighting Irish women’s basketball, has been one of the WNBA’s biggest names in recent years. Now the story has shifted off the court.
