DeKALB, Ill. – Malika Kabdesh and Nataly Ninova of the Northern Illinois University women’s tennis team were named Mid-American Conference Doubles Team of the Week, the league announced today.
The duo went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles this weekend, defeating UIC’s Nia Cooper / Dongke Liu 6-2 then downed Gracie Ha / Abigail Weaver of Wisconsin-Whitewater 6-1. Kabdesh and Ninova are 8-4 this season, all coming at No. 1 doubles.
Ninova became NIU’s all-time singles leader on Sunday, securing his 90th career singles victory, and climbed to No. 4 on the Huskies’ doubles wins list with her 68th career victory.
The Huskies have been recognized for Player of the Week four times this season.
