Police are investigating after two homes and a vehicle were hit by bullets overnight in Brampton.

Peel Regional Police are investigating after two homes and several parked vehicles were shot at early Monday morning in northwest Brampton.

The incident happened on Spadina Road, near Royal Orchard Drive, which is south of Bovaird Drive West and east of McLaughlin Road North.

Police said they were called to that area around 2:40 a.m. for reports of a shooting.

“Our investigators learned that the suspect arrived here in a vehicle and shot at two residences and three different vehicles. The suspects left the area right after the shooting,” Const. Mandeep Khatra, of Peel Regional Police, said during a media availability at the scene on Monday afternoon.

Khatra said the shooting, which he said involved gunshots in the “double digits,” is believed to have occurred sometime between 2:30 and 2:40 a.m. in the dense residential neighbourhood.

No suspect description is available at this time and no injuries have been reported, he added.

The media officer said the suspect(s) fled the area in a lighter-colour, four-door sedan, “possibly” a Honda Civic.

Area resident Robert Thomas, 54, said he was awoken early this morning by the sound of gunshots and later found bullet holes in his car and the garage door of his home.

He told reporters that he figures someone was fleeing a shooter or shooters and may have been trying to hide from them, which resulted in his residence and vehicle being struck by bullets.

Thomas, who has lived in the area since 2020 and was a police officer in Jamaica, said while he’s not scared by what happened as gun violence is much more prevalent back home, it is the second time in two years that there has been a shooting in his Brampton neighbourhood.

“My wife right now, if I call her, she’s probably in tears. So she’s very emotional … she was very upset,” he said.

Khatra said investigators are canvassing the area and speaking to witnesses as they move forward in their investigation.

“We’re hoping to identify the suspect at some point in the future,” he said.

“To the residents of this neighbourhood and our community in general, this type of violence will not be tolerated. This is completely unacceptable, brazen. We can’t have gunshots echoing in the streets like this, and we take this very seriously.”
