Manchester United are starting to make real progress in the transfer market.
There was a lengthy period of silence in terms of recruitment between the £62.5m arrival of Matheus Cunha on June 2nd and the £71m capture of Bryan Mbeumo on July 21st.
Now – however – plenty is happening.
Manchester United are close to signing Benjamin Sesko in a £74m move from RB Leipzig, and the Red Devils also enquired about Carlos Baleba on Wednesday night – although Brighton want over £100m.
A new goalkeeper is also wanted, and Gianluigi Donnarumma is one for Manchester United fans to keep an eye on after PSG agreed to sign Lucas Chevalier from Lille.

Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir both struggled last season, although Ruben Amorim could be about to sign a glovesman far better than the pair of them – one who has just been nominated for the Ballon d’Or award.

The Telegraph revealed last week that Manchester United held talks over a move for Donnarumma earlier in the summer, and it was specifically stated that PSG expect the Red Devils to push for the Italy international once Chevalier arrives.
That is now close to happening – pending a medical – after PSG agreed a €40m (£35m) fee with Lille for the Frenchman.

Donnarumma enjoyed a special 2024/25 campaign – keeping 17 clean sheets in 47 appearances as PSG won the treble – but contract talks have hit a wall at the Parc des Princes.
PSG want to restructure the Italian’s pay packet of £213,292-a-week to align with their new wage policy, and make his salary more of an incentivised deal.
Understandably, Donnarumma is unsure, which has left PSG open to selling the 26-year-old this summer, before he leaves as a free agent when his deal expires in June 2026.
Emiliano Martinez also an option
If Donnarumma does not end up at Old Trafford, Emiliano Martinez could.
TBR Football understand Manchester United and Aston Villa recently held talks which involved the Argentina international, as deals for Ollie Watkins and Alejandro Garnacho were also raised.
Therefore, Donnarumma is not the only option as Amorim aims to upgrade on Onana and Bayindir.
