DUBOIS, Pa (WJAC) — Turnabout Boxing is celebrating a new chapter in DuBois as the organization held a ribbon cutting on Monday for its new location at the DuBois Mall, as well as marking its 5-year anniversary as a business.
Community members and state officials — including Representative Mike Armanini and state Senator Wayne Langerholc — were there for support.
The executive director says the gym offers several boxing programs for both kids and adults.
He says the journey to opening ‘Turnabout Boxing’ was inspired by his daughter.
“We had some adults, unfortunately, that made her life very difficult from about fifth grade forward. It culminated into a very unfortunate event that left her in tears and crying. From the problems, from the issues, and from the pain of that very day, that was the birth of Turnabout Boxing. It was the fuel that drove its existence. Her goal was to provide something better,” explained director Greg Gillaugh.
