A police investigation into a shooting and robbery near Hamilton just over two years ago has led to the arrests of three youths from Peel.
Hamilton Police said the arrests were made recently in connection with the March 3, 2024 shooting and theft of a vehicle in the area of Concession Road 6 East and Centre Road in Flamborough, some 15 kilometres north of Hamilton.
Police said two victims were in that area to sell vape pens and shortly after arriving were robbed of their property and vehicle by several people.
During the robbery, one person discharged a single round from a gun, police said, adding no injuries were reported.
The stolen vehicle was recovered a short time later in Peel, police added.
Subsequent investigation led to the arrests of three suspects from Peel. Police didn’t say if those charged are from Mississauga or Brampton.
Two 18-year-olds and a 19-year-old are jointly charged with:
Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Possession of property obtained by crime (two counts).
Robbery with a firearm (two counts).
Theft of motor vehicle.
Reckless discharge of a firearm.
At the time of the shooting and car theft, all three accused were youths, police said. Therefore, they cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
