Movie lovers are invited to a night of short films made by local creators featuring stories about Brampton’s very own Batman, love, loss, work and much more.
Hosted by Toronto International Film Fest alum and local filmmaker Sasha Leigh Henry, the showcase will feature 11 short films and videos from local filmmakers screened at the Rose Theatre.
This year marks the fifth-annual Brampton Film Showcase, and the Brampton Arts Organization is encouraging local film buffs to attend to see some home-grown talent.
“This year’s films include a workplace comedy, heartwarming stop motion animation, a wedding comedy, meditations on loss, a hyper-local documentary, Brampton Batman, and much more from both established and emerging talent,” the arts organization says.
The films will be followed by an awards ceremony, announcing the Judges’ Choice Award winners and the Audience Award Winner.
All of the entries “capture both the stories we carry with us to Brampton and those we create here,” showing “the intricacy of the Brampton mosaic.”
Tickets to the showcase at the Rose Theatre are free, with a maximum of two per guest. The event has grown from a few dozen viewers in its first year to over 400 guests in 2025.
