Calgary police say a man is facing sexual assault and voyeurism charges after it was believed he met a woman on a dating app and subsequently sexually assaulted her in his residence last year.

In October 2025, the victim was in communication with a man she met through a dating app and arranged to meet with him in person.

On Nov. 1, 2025, around 5 p.m., the victim met with the man at his home in southeast Calgary and during that time, police said, the man is alleged to have committed a sex crime against the woman and taken photos of her without her permission.

A search warrant was executed on the man’s residence on Tuesday and items related to the investigation were seized.

Spencer Maximus Andrews, a 23-year-old Calgarian, is charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of voyeurism.

Andrews is scheduled to appear in court on May 19.

Before engaging in any sexual activity, consent must be given by both parties, police said, which means agreeing to each sexual encounter, which includes kissing, touching or intercourse.

“Sexual contact is never acceptable without clear, voluntary and specific consent. People are free to change their mind at any time, and any sexual activity must stop immediately once consent is withdrawn,” the Calgary Police Service said in a news release issued Wednesday.

A sexual assault can be reported to police in Canada regardless of the passage of time since an alleged incident, police added, and anyone who believes they are a victim of sexual assault is encouraged to alert law enforcement.
