The Juno Awards are set to return to Manitoba in 2027.
Speaking at an event in downtown Winnipeg on Thursday, Allan Reid, president and CEO of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences which operates the awards, shared that the annual Canadian music awards will be hosted in Winnipeg from April 1 through 4 of next year, culminating in the 56th Juno Awards broadcast taking place on April 4.
“This is an exciting moment not just for us, but for your city and for Manitoba’s music community,” Reid said, adding that the event will serve as an economic driver for Winnipeg’s hospitality sector in addition to the arts and culture scene.
“There’s a wonderful pride in this city that will be on full display for the entire country to see!
The Juno Awards were last hosted in Winnipeg in 2014. Premier Wab Kinew highlighted the opportunity that Manitoba artists will have to showcase their talents on a national stage as the Juno Awards spotlight.
“There’ll be the big names, there’ll be the big stars, there’ll be the glitz and glamour of the music industry,” Kinew said, “but some underground artists is going to get their big shot, either at a gig or on the big stage or on the award stage, and to me, that’s really exciting.”
Both Kinew and Winnipeg mayor Scott Gillingham made sure to thank the host committee for working on a successful bid to bring the awards back to Winnipeg.
The 2026 Juno Awards will be awarded in Hamilton on March 28 and 29.
