NASCAR’s premiere Cup Series Race is en-route back to the Pocono Mountains.
LONG POND, Pa. — It’s almost time to start up those engines and head over to the Pocono Mountains.
The Great American Getaway 400 presented by Visit PA is back at Pocono Raceway for the third consecutive year.
Race weekend is back in the Pocono’s starting on June 12th, 2026.
“We’re proud Pennsylvanians, we’re proud to showcase Pennsylvania, and the fact that 60-50% of our fans are coming from out of state and we get to show off this beautiful state is, it’s a huge deal,” said Ben May, President of Pocono Raceway.
Sunday’s Cup Series Race has been sold out each of the past three years.
Last year’s Great American Getaway 400 saw Chase Briscoe get his first win at the Tricky Triangle – something tough to do even once.
The weekend starts on Friday with the Craftsman Truck Series Race, followed by qualifying and the Xfinity Series Race on Saturday.
An unforgettable moment of the NASCAR season happened in last year’s MillerTech Battery 250 when Dale Earnhardt Jr. filled in as Connor Zilisch’s crew chief. It was a first for Junior, and it was the first win for Zilisch at Pocono.
“We’re the only racetrack on the NASCAR circuit with three turns. Each of the turns has a different radii, a different degree of banking, and all three of our straightaways have a different length. So, when you look at that, when you look at the game we’re playing- this product of NASCAR is very different when it’s on Pocono Raceway,” said May.
Besides the fun of each race itself, the raceway prides itself on inclusive and affordable activates surrounding the track. Pocono Raceway is unique compared to other tracks around the NASCAR circuit in terms of family friendly activities.
Children 12 and under are granted free admission for each race. There are camping options right outside of the track, plus a children’s playground, dog park, and more.
Visit PA and the Shapiro Administration have teamed up to help drive tourism to the state. Bringing back the Great American Getaway 400 serves a purpose in that. The 2026 NFL Draft will be held in Pittsburgh in April. NASCAR makes its pitstop in the state in June, as does the 2026 FIFA World Cup- where games are taking place at Lincoln Financial Field from June through July.
With warmer weather on the way, the summer sporting festivities are just around the corner.
“To see it kind of ramp up and to see it build and crescendo to, to what happens when that green flag drops, but there is no better moment than when the green flag drops for any of our races,” said May.
The Great American Getaway 400 returns to Pocono Raceway on Sunday, June 14th for a 3:00p.m. flag drop.
