A new addition to Queens’ kosher dining scene is launching soon in the Jamaica Estates and Fresh Meadows area. Prima Di Carne, an upscale Glatt Kosher steakhouse, is set to open its doors on the corner of Union Turnpike and 178th Street, replacing the longtime neighborhood staple Acquista Trattoria, which closed earlier this year after 23 years in business.
From the Team Behind Cafe Premiata
Prima Di Carne is the latest venture from the owners of Cafe Premiata, a popular kosher dairy café located on Main Street in Kew Gardens Hills that opened in 2022. With this new meat concept, they’re shifting from pasta and paninis to premium cuts and steakhouse dining, while maintaining the modern, elevated experience their patrons have come to expect.
The name “Prima Di Carne” is Italian, meaning “before meat” or “prior to meat,” a nod to the restaurant’s stylish identity and the culinary anticipation it hopes to create.
What to Expect on the Menu
While the full menu has not yet been released, diners can expect a high-end meat-focused offering, along with a sushi menu and a full bar. The concept appears to blend classic steakhouse elements with contemporary kosher cuisine, appealing to both locals and destination diners seeking a quality meat experience in Queens.
Opening Timeline and Community Ties
The owners have shared with the local Bukharian community that they are aiming to open shortly after the 9 Days, targeting a mid-August launch. The location is expected to bring new energy to the neighborhood, which has long awaited a high-quality Glatt Kosher meat option.
Prima Di Carne is located at the corner of Union Turnpike and 178th Street in the Jamaica Estates/Fresh Meadows area of Queens. The restaurant will be certified Glatt Kosher under the VHQ (Vaad Harabonim of Queens). Hours of operation will be announced closer to the official opening.
