This is the month of Jessica Jones, and you can argue with your hamster about it if you disagree. The return of Krysten Ritter to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Daredevil: Born Again is upon us, the first episode of Season 2 scheduled to arrive on Disney+ on March 24, and all is being made right with the world — Jones’ hiatus from the small screen having been agonizingly long and unnecessary.

But before the superpowered private investigator gets back to kicking ass and asking Matthew Murdock (Charlie Cox) if he “wants to cause a little trouble” in a couple of weeks, Marvel Comics has seen fit to bless us with a brand-new look for Jessica Jones on shelves at local comic book shops, effective March 11, roughly two weeks before Ritter makes her return as the character.

“No one does it like Jessica Jones,” writer Sam Humphries told Polygon. “She’s sharp, bitterly funny, and tenacious as hell. Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos snapped when they created her, a totally singular character with a unique POV on the superhero game. I’m excited to push the limits of the kind of cases Jessica Jones can investigate, and how far she’ll go to solve them.”

It’s Jessica Jones As You’ve Never Seen Her Before

It’s an all-new series designed to honor the original Alias series released in the early 2000s, this nod being written by Humphries, penciled by Geraldo Borges and with cover design by David Mack; and it’ll knock your boots, and your shot glass, right into the other room.

The storyline for the new miniseries is as tantalizing as the artwork and, yes, she and Luke Cage are husband and wife nowadays — an arc Disney+ should take a page from Netflix on, and immediately get re-install once Cage (Mike Colter) makes his return as well.

But, as for what Jones is up against in the new comic book series, well, it’s a lot, per Marvel’s official press release: “The return of Jessica Jones! A series of grisly murders in Hell’s Kitchen pulls Jessica Jones into a mystery more sinister than she could’ve ever imagined. As the wife of Mayor Luke Cage, she’ll have to tread carefully as she forms a dangerous alliance with Typhoid Mary to track down the killer.

“But as she delves deeper into Hell’s Kitchen’s dark underbelly, the evidence she finds presents more questions than answers… Follow the mystery in an all-new Red Band miniseries written by Sam Humphries (New Avengers, Legendary Star-Lord) and drawn by Geraldo Borges (Thunderbolts), celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Alias!”
