Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a driver who struck a child in northeast Calgary before fleeing the scene.
Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Tarington Way and Taradale Drive NE, shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday for reports of a crash.
Officers arrived to find a boy in medical distress.
Investigators believe he had been crossing at a marked crosswalk when a white, four-door sedan entered the intersection and hit him, then continued driving without stopping.
Bystanders provided aid to the boy until paramedics arrived. He was taken to hospital in stable condition.
Police have released photos of the suspect vehicle in hopes someone will be able to help identify the driver.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident is urged to call police at 403‑266‑1234. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers.
