Peel Regional Police say investigators have recovered 13 stolen vehicles worth more than $800,000 after dismantling what they describe as an organized auto-theft operation in Mississauga.

The investigation began in October 2025 when officers from the 11 Division Break and Enter Auto Response Unit and the Community Intervention and Response Team began probing a group linked to multiple stolen vehicles in the region.

“Auto theft remains a priority for Peel Regional Police. We have been leading the charge in reducing auto theft across our region, and this investigation is another example of the continued efforts of our officers,” said Deputy Chief Marc Andrews, Peel Regional Police, in a statement.

Search warrants executed at two Mississauga residences in March led to the recovery of the vehicles and the arrest of two suspects. Police said the investigation resulted in a total of 55 criminal charges.

Sulman Dar, 28, faces 24 counts of possession of property obtained by crime and 23 counts of failing to comply with a release order. Shahroz Dar, 24, faces three counts of possession of property obtained by crime, four counts of theft of a motor vehicle and one count of failing to comply with a release order.

Police said both men were already bound by court-imposed release orders at the time of their arrests in connection with other offences. The accused were held in custody pending bail hearings at the Ontario Court of Justice.

“Organized crime groups that target our communities for profit will be identified, disrupted, and dismantled. We will continue to hold those responsible fully accountable for their criminal actions,” said Andrews.

Police say auto thefts in Peel Region are down nearly 15 per cent so far in 2026 compared with the same period last year as enforcement efforts continue.
