Like a lot of Hollywood stars, Jennifer Garner has spent a lot of time Vancouver — and evidently she’s spent enough time in the city to become acquainted with the city’s donut scene, since she has the inside scoop on one of the city’s best donut spots.
“I’ve spent a couple of years in Vancouver,” she said in an interview with Condé Nast Traveler, excerpted on Instagram by Granville Island’s account. “Oh my gosh, the food is so good in Vancouver.”
“If you go, make sure you go to Granville Island, go to Vancouver Island, drive up to Deep Cove,” she said, prompting co-interviewee Angourie Rice to ask her where Deep Cove is. “It’s North Van… I believe,” she said with a laugh. “But that is where I lived when I was pregnant with my daughter.”
She’s right! Deep Cover is indeed in North Van! (However, Vancouver Island isn’t actually all that close to Vancouver, but I digress.) “There’s a place with really good donuts,” she continued, “and I don’t know what it’s called, but I was intensely serious about the donuts.”
She’s almost certainly talking about Honey Doughnuts and Goodies — more colloquially known as Honey’s — and she’s absolutely right, because their donuts are excellent.
So there you have it: definitely go to Honey’s, but maybe give the Gastown steam clock a miss.
