Toronto police have charged a former Boy Scouts volunteer accused of sexually assaulting two youths and an adult in the 1980s and 90s.

In a news release on Friday, police said the alleged sexual assaults took place in Toronto and Algonquin Provincial Park between 1988 and 1998.

During that time, police noted that the accused volunteered with a Boy Scouts group that operated out of a church in the area of Bloor Street West and Bathurst Street.

The suspect, identified as 63-year-old Edwin Garcia, was arrested on Jan. 17, 2026, and charged with five counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual interference.
