MMA Regional Pick of the Week: PFL Africa 2
PFL Africa 2 Welterweight Fight: Osvaldo Benedito vs Emilios Dassi
Card Start Time: Saturday (8/9), 12:00pm EST (ESPN+)
In the opener on this PFL Africa main card, I like the Cameroonian, Dassi.
There are some obvious drawbacks in his game. For one, when he lands, he often gets really excited. This leads to him going for the kill and a lot of times putting himself at risk for a big counter shot. Additionally, he’s shown issues with his gas tank that make me wonder if he can win this fight deep. Despite all of that, I like what he is able to do on the feet. He’s creative and has nice power when he finds a home for his big shots.
Another reason I like him in this one is that his opponent, Benedito, appears to be very hittable. Despite facing some really bad competition in his last few fights, he’s been hit a lot. He’s also shown some serious issues with his scrambling – giving up bad positions and putting himself in danger.
With Benedito being the type to put himself in harms way and Dassi being the type who goes for it, I like Dassi to be able to find a finish somewhere in the first couple rounds.
