The City of Prince George has issued an Evacuation Order for the area above

UPDATE: 9:47 p.m.

The City of Prince George has said most residents will be returning home tonight, after the evacuation order was issued early Saturday evening due to a gas leak.

“Residents of units 101 – 108 at 448 Tabor Boulevard will be provided accommodations this evening as the city is activating emergency support services,” their update reads.

“All other residents will be able to return home once electricity is restored – crews are currently estimating this should be done in about 30 minutes. Crews remain on site working on the gas leak issue.”

The reception centre at Zion Lutheran Church was closed down as of 9 p.m. Any impacted residents can call 250-614-7838 to arrange accommodation.

“If you call and get put through to voicemail, please leave your name and contact phone number, and staff will return your call as soon as possible,” the city said.

UPDATE: 6:36 p.m.

The City of Prince George has updated their evacuation area orders due to a gas leak in a part of the city.

“Residents of Carrier Place, Carrier Avenue, and Explorer Crescent that are inside the evacuation zone must stay out of the area. Homes that are no longer included in the evacuation area may return home,” the city said in their post.

Those in the impacted area are directed to evacuate immediately to the Zion Lutheran Christian Church at 180 Tabor Boulevard. There are emergency staff on site to assist.

Fire rescue Crews, RCMP and Fortis crews remain on site. The city said the impacted area has also had the power shut off. The city will provide further updates when they are available.

An evacuation order was issued by the City of Prince George early Saturday evening, due to a gas leak.

In a BC emergency alert message, the city had ordered residents in the areas North of Fifth Avenue, to Zion Lutheran Church and East of Tabor Boulevard, west of Voyageur Drive, to vacate due to a gas leak.

“Anyone in the affected area must leave the area immediately,” the message reads. “A gas leak in the area poses a threat to human life.”

The city said Prince George Fire Rescue Crews, plus RCMP and Fortis crews are all on site working to mitigate the issue believed to be an underground gas leak. The impacted area has also had the power shut off.

Evacuees are being directed to the Zion Lutheran Christian Church located at 180 Tabor Boulevard. Emergency Management staff are on site to assist.

Anyone unable to evacuate is asked to call 9-1-1.

The city said they will provide further updates when they are available.
