Richard T. Lee had a putt to make LIV Golf history. Bryson DeChambeau is the one who hoisted the trophy instead.

Lee, a wild card for LIV Golf, stared down a birdie putt Sunday at Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore, which would have made him the league’s first wild card player to win. He missed that putt, leaving him about 2 feet, if not less, for par.

He lined up the stroke, made his swipe but the ball moved left, hit the side of the cup and lipped out, ending up farther from the hole than it started. DeChambeau stared in disbelief, but he was a winner once again.

“It was a bit of shock for sure,” DeChambeau said. “I thought he was just going knock it in, and OK, on we go. He had been playing great golf. He’s beaten me numerous times throughout the season already when I’ve played with him, so he plays great golf, and he deserves to be out here. Honestly, he deserves to be on a team after this performance.

“But it was sour for sure to see him miss that. You never want to see that happen. I wanted to go another hole and have a chance to play great golf on that second playoff hole. Just unfortunately didn’t go his way today, and that’s just the way the cards sometimes fall.”

Although he didn’t win, Lee earned more than $2 million and became the first LIV wild card to finish in the top 10 of any event.

But the short putt to extend the playoff is one that’ll sting.

“There’s some slick putts out there,” Lee said. “There’s some little lies out there. It was a short putt and I wanted to just hit it hard, and I hit it a little too hard. I think the adrenaline was pumping a little bit. Then again, I felt like I had it this week. I played really well. Hopefully next week I can try again.”

The win is DeChambeau’s first since LIV Golf Korea last year. He shot 5 under to get into the final round, tied with Lee at 14 under for the event, and then beat him with par on the par-5 18th, the first playoff hole.

Lee Westwood finished third, his second top-10 finish in five seasons on LIV Golf. Joaquin Niemann and Jon Rahm rounded out the top five.

In the team competition, Dustin Johnson’s 4Aces won for the second straight week. It’s their fourth time finishing on the podium in four events in 2026.

LIV’s season continues next week, as the league heads to South Africa for its third straight week of competition. It’s the final LIV event before the Masters.
