Ottawa Senators prospect Carter Yakemchuk has been named the American Hockey League’s Player of the Week.

Yakemchuk, 20, recorded six assists in two games as the Belleville Senators beat the Hershey Bears twice over the weekend by a combined score of 11-5.

“I thought we played two really good games. Some of the best hockey we’ve played all year,” Yakemchuk said after Sunday’s 5-2 win. “It’s really important. We’re fighting for a playoff spot, and to come into a tough building and come away with four points is really good.”

The seventh-overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft has nine goals and 35 points in 47 games with Belleville this season, second among AHL rookie defencemen. He recorded 17 goals and 49 points in 56 games with the Calgary Hitmen in 2024-25, his final season in the Western Hockey League.
