As the Hamilton Tiger-Cats begin looking ahead to the 2026 CFL draft, the Tiger-Cats continue adding prospects on the defensive side of the ball. Recently, the Tiger-Cats signed defensive lineman Charbel Dabire and defensive back Stephen Douglas. By adding depth players to their defensive position groups, the Tiger-Cats are also adding potential special teams playmakers. In addition, during the long CFL season, attrition tends to hit the defensive position groups hard, but injuries can be minimized if Hamilton has solid depth at those positions.
The most recent defensive signing by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, according to the CFL Transactions list, is American defensive tackle Brandon Brown.
Brandon Brown is a 6’2″, 320-pound defensive tackle from Katy, Texas. Brown spent the majority of his college football career playing for the University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners from 2021 until 2025. While playing at UTSA, Brown played in 54 games and recorded 93 total tackles, 6.5 quarterback sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 3 pass deflections, and 1 fumble recovery.
Brown brings the ideal size and density for an effective nose guard or even a 3-technique in the CFL. In addition, Brown has excellent hand skills and can create separation from a blocker over him. Despite his large frame, Brown demonstrated a high motor and outstanding ability to pursue the ball. However, Brown still needs to grow as a player by becoming more explosive and developing a diverse toolkit as a pass rusher.
