After failing to win a single match during the 2025 TGL season, Boston Common Golf finished 4-1 in 2026 to secure the No. 1 seed in the playoff bracket.

Led by TGL co-founder Rory McIlroy, Boston will attempt to carry the success from the regular season into the semifinal round. McIlroy, Keegan Bradley and Adam Scott must defeat Jupiter Links GC’s Max Homa, Akshay Bhatia and Tom Kim in order to advance to the finals series.

Before Boston and Jupiter enter the SoFi Center for what should be an intense postseason battle, let’s take a closer look at this TGL matchup.

Five Facts About Boston Common Golf vs. Jupiter Links GC Playoff Match1. Major turnarounds

Boston and Jupiter landed at the bottom of the SoFi Cup standings last year and missed the playoffs. Boston (0-4-1) earned just a single point, and Jupiter’s (1-4) only victory came against Boston.

Oh, how quickly things can change — Boston led the way with four wins in five matches this season. Jupiter finished with a 2-2-1 record, locking up a playoff berth with a scintillating comeback against The Bay Golf Club in the final match of the regular season.

2. Here comes the ‘hammer’

Each team’s use of the “hammer” could be a significant factor in this match. (For those unfamiliar with the concept, a team can throw a “hammer” to add one point to a hole’s value, and each team has three “hammers” per match.)

Boston had a minus-7 point differential with the “hammer” in 2025, but that number flipped to plus-6 in 2026. Jupiter made a similar jump, going from minus-12 to plus-2.

3. Watch out for Rory McIlroy’s driver

McIlroy could create some advantages for Boston with aggressive drives. During the regular season, he led all TGL players in driver distance, averaging 346.9 yards off the tee. He also registered the highest average driver swing speed at 128.4 mph.

However, McIlroy will face a worthy challenger in Homa, who is the overall leader in total points won via singles.

4. Another overtime thriller?

Boston and Jupiter needed extra time in each of their previous two matches. In 2025, Jupiter captured a 4-3 overtime win, and Boston got revenge with a 7-6 overtime victory in 2026.

Remember, if the match ends in a tie, a closest-to-the-pin competition will determine which team advances.
