The countdown to the 2026 Masters continues this week with the Valspar Championship, the concluding tournament of the PGA Tour’s Florida swing.

Taking place on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Fla., this year’s Valspar Championship will feature a purse of $9.1 million.

Listowel, Ont.’s Corey Conners, ranked 40th in the world, leads a pack of seven Canadians in the field, including Nick Taylor, Taylor Pendrith, Mackenzie Hughes, Adam Hadwin, A.J. Ewart and Adam Svensson.

Conners finished tied for 13th at last week’s Players Championship at 6-under after shooting a 2-over round on Sunday.

Taylor and Pendrith finished tied for 42nd and tied for 46th, respectively, while Hughes and Ewart missed the cut.

Sudarshan Yellamaraju was the top Canadian, finishing 9-under and tied for fifth, but won’t play in the Valspar Championship.

Conners, Taylor and 2004 champion Mike Weir have already qualified to compete in the 90th edition of the Masters, running April 9-12 from Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.

Players in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Rankings during the week prior to the Masters, also earn an invite. Pendrith is within striking distance at No. 66, while Hughes (No. 114) and Hadwin (No. 219) are well back.
