The National Social Security Fund has witnessed a notable shift in the number of active contributing employers over the last decade, marked by a recent downward trend.

After hitting a peak of 78,549 active employers during the 2022/23 fiscal year, the numbers have begun to slide. The following year, 2023/24, saw a decrease to 78,009, followed by a further drop to 77,764 in the 2024/25 period.

This decline indicates that approximately 785 firms have dropped off the list of companies making active contributions to the fund over the past two years. This contraction follows a period of significant growth.

Looking back to the 2017/18 period, the fund had 73,896 active employers. While there was a slight dip to 73,308 in 2018/19 and another fluctuation to 73,237 in 2020/21, the subsequent years showed a sharp upward trajectory.

Between 2020/21 and 2022/23, the number of employers surged by over 5,000, jumping from 73,237 to 76,907, and finally to the 78,549 peak.
