Candidates and their supporters can find out what it takes to become part of the election process this fall.

The City of Brampton, in partnership with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, will host an information session to explain the rules of campaigning.

The session will provide an overview of key requirements, including candidate and third-party advertiser eligibility and responsibilities, the nomination and registration process, campaign finances, as well as information on key dates and resources.

A third-party advertisement is a message in any broadcast, print, electronic or other medium that has the purpose of promoting, supporting or opposing a candidate or a question on the ballot.

The session will take place on Monday, April 20, from 7 to 10 p.m.

It will be offered in both in-person and virtual formats.

Participants can attend in person at Brampton City Hall at 2 Wellington Street West, or attend virtually via Teams.

All attendees must register in advance at brampton.ca/bramptonvotes. Registrations must be received no later than April 17 at 4:30 p.m.

The presentation will be available on the city’s website after the session.

Municipal election day, for seats on city council and local school boards, is Monday, Oct. 26, with advance polling on Oct. 9, 10, 11, 16 and 17, 2026.
