Lane Kiffin is bringing a former CFL quarterback with an NFL pedigree to Louisiana State University.
According to a report from Jordan Schultz, Tee Martin has been hired as an offensive analyst for the Tigers. He has spent the past five years with the Baltimore Ravens, three of them as quarterbacks coach to two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson.
The 47-year-old was a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for two seasons (2004-05) during which he completed 40-of-95 pass attempts for 458 yards, one touchdown, and four interceptions. He also rushed 13 times for 64 yards.
The six-foot-two, 225-pound passer was a star at the University of Tennessee, where he threw for 4,592 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions, helping the Volunteers win a BCS National Championship in 1998. He was drafted in the fifth round of the 2000 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers but saw minimal action before stints with the Philadelphia Eagles, Oakland Raiders, and NFL Europe.
Martin started his coaching career at Morehouse College in 2006. He moved on to North Cobb High School, North Atlanta High School, the University of New Mexico, and the University of Kentucky ahead of a seven-year stint at USC, where he worked under Kiffin.
The native of Mobile, Ala. rejoined his alma mater in 2019 as Tennessee’s assistant head coach and receivers coach, where he worked with Brampton, Ont., native Josh Palmer. Palmer was selected in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Chargers and currently plays for the Buffalo Bills.
LSU went 7-6 last season, losing to Houston in the Texas Bowl. The school seized headlines when it hired Kiffin away from SEC rival Ole Miss, forcing him to leave that team in the middle of a College Football Playoff run.
