SURREY Police’s top cop Norm Lipinski said on Friday that so far this month there have been no ‘shots fired’ extortion incidents in Surrey.
However, some Surrey residents and business owners were still receiving threats, with four cases so far this month.
In February, there was only one ‘shots fired’ extortion incident as compared to 10 in January in Surrey.
Lipinski in a video update of extortions urged people to continue to report extortions to the police. He also encouraged them to call the Surrey Police Service if they have any information in connection to extortions, pointing out that SPS has officers trained in dealing with sensitive information and Canada has laws that protect the confidentiality of people who provide information to the police. People should call 236-485-5149.
