Bullard, Pine Tree girls meet in soccer

The Bullard Lady Panthers and the Pine Tree Lady Pirates meet on the pitch on Monday in Tyler.

The 4A Division I area playoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.

Pine Tree won its bi-district game over Madisonville 2-0, while Bullard claimed a 5-0 victory over Paris.

All four District 14-4A teams advanced to the area round for the first time since 2019. Lindale defeated Sulphur Springs 2-1 and Brownsboro downed Texarkana Pleasant Grove 5-3.

In the Bullard game, the Lady Panthers outshot Paris 22 to 6 in the match played in Pittsburg.

Junior goalkeeper Cadence Graul came through with three nice early saves for the Lady Panthers and recorded the clean sheet. She had a total of seven saves.

Bullard took a 1-0 lead with five minutes remaining in the first half on a goal from senior Niyah Gee.

With just five seconds left in the first half the Lady Panthers went up 2-0 as Conleigh Waldrop hit a free kick to Charley Whitehead, who received and dribbled for an assist in the air to Mollie Carlile’s header on the far left post. 

The third goal came at the 35:08 mark after Paige Barrett assisted a pass to Whitehead in front of the goal. With nearly 10 minutes left. Waldrop scored on a free kick from 30 yards out that swooped right under the cross bar.

For the last goal, Addison Cooksey assisted a split pass centrally in the field to Kaelyn Stripling who shot the ball through the keeper’s legs with 3:32 left in the game.
