Calgary will be home to this year’s Native World Series, which will be happening this July.
This World Series brings together the best Indigenous ball players in North America, and according to Committee Member with the Native World Series, Waylon Big Plume, this competition has been around for a while.

According to Big Plume, this World Series began because of how quickly the sport was growing at the time.

While this World Series is for across North America, Big Plume says that it is mostly Canadian teams involved, with the occasional team from south of the border.
Registration for the Native World Series will open in April, but Big Plume says they can expect around 50 teams to join.

To register for this World Series, you must be part of a team, and contact the Native World Series committee.
As part of this competition, there are four divisions of competitors.

It costs between $600 and $800 per team to register for this competition.
While this competition happens in southern Alberta, this year, the Native World Series will be happening at Jaycee Slopitch Park in Calgary from July 17 t o 19.

On top of baseball, there will be vendors onsite, selling crafts, clothing, and more.

Not only will people to catch baseball in July, the following weekend is the 50th annual Tsuut’ina Nation celebrations.

That will happen from July 23 to 26, and is open for everybody.
