Facing a slew of defensive injuries, the Ottawa Senators are calling on two prospects who could make their NHL debuts Tuesday night.
Ottawa is bringing up Carter Yakemchuk and Jorian Donovan from the Belleville Senators, the team announced Tuesday.
It comes after Thomas Chabot and Lassi Thomson were injured Monday in New York. Defencemen Jake Sanderson and Nick Jensen are also hurt.
Yakemchuk, 20, was Ottawa’s first-round pick in 2024 and has picked up 36 points in 50 games as an American Hockey League rookie.
The 21-year-old Donovan was picked in the fifth round in 2022, made Canada’s world junior team in 2024 and is playing his second season with Belleville.
His father is former Senator Shean Donovan. Ottawa said they would become the first father-son duo to both play for the team.

Ottawa is two points out of a playoff spot with 12 games to play.
