There is no doubt that Martin Landaluce is a special talent. The 20-year-old Spaniard is sending shockwaves through the tennis world with his gameplay, putting together an unprecedented run to the Round of 16 at the ongoing Miami Masters tournament.

Who is Martin Landaluce?

Landaluce hails from Spain and has been associated with the Rafa Nadal Tennis Academy. It should come as no surprise that the Spaniard is enjoying success this year, given that he was among the participants at the 2026 Next Gen ATP Finals.

Standing at six feet four inches, Landaluce is effective on all surfaces and, more importantly, appears extremely comfortable off both wings.

He claimed the 2022 US Open Junior title and already has a couple of Challenger titles to his name.

The Spanish Legacy

Landaluce has been fortunate to grow up with the influence of two legendary Spaniards. While his time at the Rafa Nadal Tennis Academy must have provided invaluable insights from Rafael Nadal himself, he also has an active player in Carlos Alcaraz to look up to–someone who continues to inspire the next generation to push their limits.

Miami Masters 2026

Landaluce has already played five matches this week, including two in the qualifiers. In the main draw, he defeated the fourteenth seed, Karen Khachanov, in a match that highlighted his resilience and baseline power.

Reflecting on his journey this week, the Spaniard trailed Thiago Agustin Tirante by a set and a break in the final round of qualifying, making this run even more remarkable.

He now faces Sebastian Korda, who knocked out the #1 seed, Carlos Alcaraz. Landaluce may well have relished the opportunity to face Alcaraz, whose rise continues to inspire young players, but that takes nothing away from the formidable challenge posed by the highly talented Korda.

Whatever the outcome in the Round of 16, Landaluce has firmly announced himself on the global stage. There is bound to be renewed interest in what he can achieve in 2026. History suggests that Spanish greats can be particularly dangerous early in their careers—perhaps Landaluce is the latest in that lineage.
