Developers are seeking a land use change to build four towers up to 20-stories-tall that would bring nearly 650 new units including affordable housing to Brampton.
Candevcon Group Inc. has filed an application for a new multi-building development on behalf of Brampton New Life Community Church, which could bring hundreds of new units to Brampton.
If approved, the “high-density development” at 9281 Goreway Drive would consist of four buildings all between 16 to 20 stories tall, with 649 units including 65 affordable units, according to the application.
Plans also include surface and underground parking with space for over 440 vehicles, 244 bicycle parking spaces, and a 77,000-square-foot outdoor amenity area.
The land is currently zoned for institutional uses like schools, and will require a land use amendment to allow for residential construction. North of the site is the New Life Community Church, a property that was “retained” from a previous severance of the subject site, according to a city report.
A statutory public meeting was held on Monday, and one local resident asked council not to move forward with the application and keep the land zoned for institutional uses.
Next steps to approve the application will see city staff collect and review all documents and comments before making a final recommendation.
