In Montreal, we’re not really “soccer” people, except when we watch the kids play on Saturday mornings in the summer or when the World Cup is on and we’re all experts for the day. And, of course, we went through a phase where we were in love with a soccer-obsessed European and had to watch matches on TV during a season with vague dates.
But that’s about to change. Because now, for the first time, a Quebec soccer club will be competing in the Canadian Premier League (CPL)—the national soccer league. The club is called Supra du Québec (Football Club Supra) and is kicking off its first season in the CPL. In fact, all we needed was a team to cheer for…
FC Supra / Supra du Québec
The Supra is a Quebec club from the 1980s (between 1988 and 1992) that holds a very special place in the hearts of soccer players in Montreal, Laval, and Quebec. Because there’s a lot of talent in Quebec, but not many clubs to nurture it and help it grow. The Supra was one of those clubs—rooted in strong community values.
Today’s Supra du Québec/FC Supra is being reborn in 2026 within the CFL. According to its president, Rocco Placentino, it is built on its values and “it’s a Quebec team, made by us, for us.”

The club will play its first CFL match on April 11, 2026, and, historically, its first home game in the league at the Laval Multi-Sports Complex on May 3, 2026.
There are still tickets left for FC Supra’s home game, and we suddenly have this crazy urge to go see it —because what we really love about sports is being able to cheer on the local team.
