NEWS BRIEF: TNT Sports in the UK has announced feature documentary When Soccer Came to America: Goals, Glamour & the Beautiful Game.
The 1×60’ doc, produced by UK prodco ITN Productions and its chief content officer Ian Rumsey, tells the story of how professional soccer first took root in the US. Charting the rise of the North American Soccer League in the 1970s and 1980s, it reveals how superstars like Pelé, George Best and Johan Cruyff brought unprecedented attention to what was then a minority sport in the US. The doc premieres on TNT Sports on March 28 and will then stream on HBO Max.
