The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television has announced the nominees for the 2026 Canadian Screen Awards.

The CBC TV series North of North topped both the television and the overall list with 20 nominations, including best comedy series and best ensemble performance, comedy, and a best lead performer nod for Anna Lambe. Red-hot Heated Rivalry scored 18 nominations, including best drama series and best lead performer, drama for Vancouver’s Hudson Williams.

On film side, 40 Acres leads the pack with 10 nominations, while the North Vancouver– and Nanaimo-shot Blue Heron received seven nominations including best motion picture, best director and best original screenplay for Vancouver’s Sophy Romvari and a best supporting role, drama for Vancouver actor Edik Beddoes.

“I’m so proud of all of my talented collaborators whose work is being recognized by the Academy,” Romvari told Postmedia in an email. “It’s a beautiful vote of confidence, especially for a debut feature, not just for myself but for many who worked on the film. They put their trust in me, and I’m so grateful.”

Other nominated films with B.C. connections include Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery and The Track, both earning nods in the best feature length documentary category. On the TV side, the Vancouver-shot Wild Cards is nominated for best drama series, while CTV News Vancouver at 6 and Global Newshour at 6 are both up for best local newscast.

The awards, which recognize excellence across 146 film, television, and digital media categories, will be presented over four days in Toronto during Canadian Screen Week in May. The celebrations will culminate with the Canadian Screen Awards show on May 31 (8 p.m.) on CBC, CBC Gem, Crave, CTV, Global, and STACKTV. The show will be hosted by actor and comedian Andrew Phung.
